I've been too prideful about my candy making skills to buy a thermometer for too long! I humbled myself, researched all the thermometers on Amazon, and picked this one. I've always made toffee and fudge at Christmas time, and I've been wasteful and thrown away stuff that cooked too long or not enough (only occasionally) and I kept saying to myself that a good cook doesn't need a thermometer! But, since I purchased this I'm an even better candy chef! It feels more like O-Chem lab at university, and my results are predictable, I love it! I recommend this one because it covers a large range of temperatures and the preset stages are nice reminders of your temp goals. Also, it is adjustable to fit many different pan heights. I really like it :)
