Good for crowds or near danger...
It's funny how many people have begruged us for "leashing" our child. We get mean looks at the store and discouraging remarks from friends. That said there is nothing cruel about this product. Our boy loves walking with us (rather than sitting in the stroller or backpack) and at 18 months, he lacks the better sense not to run away or tumble down a staircase or even wander into traffic. The Buddy Harness is comforatble and safe. It keeps our boy close, but free to move around on his own. To me this is quickly becoming a fundemental infant item - both for safety and convienence. As to the preachy comments from others who feel "leashing" your child is inhumane, they just don't get it. I would suggest that confining your child to a stroller, shopping cart, backpack, etc. is the crueler alternative. Let's face it, being buckled into a restrictive seat is much more restraining than being tethered. I am a rock climber, and I would suggest that the rope and harness I wear to protect my climbs, gives me freedom to explore the vertical world in relative safety. This product similarly provides our son the freedom to explore the ambulatory world in relative safety. The only concern I have about the product, is that the "backpack" element is really just a tiny pocket - not even big enough for a water bottle (most of it is just a stuffed animal).
