One of the best pens under $10
These are really great, solid pens. In response to the reviews speaking about ink leaking: I've seen just about every type of gel pen refill leak at one point or another. It does not happen often, so it's not a reason to stay away from this brand. Usually it's the result of a drop or other damage.
In my opinion, the Pentel Energel line has one-upped the mighty Pilot G2 in a few different ways. The .7mm refill is similar in performance to the .7mm Pilot G2, while the 1mm Pentel is far superior to the Pilot G2 1mm. With regard to the Energel Alloy RT, it is also far superior to Pilot's metal variety, the G2 Limited. The G2 Limited falls apart into many pieces every time I unscrew it to change the ink. The Energel Alloy is a solid and slim two piece metal design. Even the spring is seated in such a way that it doesn't pop out when you unscrew it. The click mechanism is nice and crisp. I've also been using the black version for about 6 months at work and there are no chips or marks in the paint.
One final note from a pen obsessed nerd: While the Energel .7mm isn't a bad refill, I think the Papermate Inkjoy .7mm is a little smoother and more precise, and the Papermate refill fits into the Energel Alloy RT perfectly without any modifications. If you're looking for a metal alternative for the Papermate Inkjoy, which to my knowledge they don't make, this will work perfectly.
