This blender is fantastic IF you're always making very large batches. I tried to make a small portion of almond butter but had to finish it off in my older smaller blender. Since the blades on this blender sit high off the floor of the container, the blades just whir above the product and you'll continually be scrapping the sides and still never get a smooth product. I prefer to make small batches of products since most don't last long, and we like to eat many different things. If you're always making large batches of product (e.g. minimum would be 2 cups of almond butter from 4 cups of almonds), then definitely this is the blender for you! Would have given this 5 stars if Vitamix had let us know this doesn't accommodate small to normal volumes of product. Although they do say this is the "Professional" series (restaurant volume), so just know they mean it! UPDATE: You can buy additonal smaller containers (32 or 48 oz) for this base for about $100 each.
