DE, or Diatomaceous Earth, is a product I have used for about a year now. If you are planning to use it for human consumption, or animal consumption, please make absolutely sure that it is a food grade DE. It is an amazing product. My dog is 11 years old, and over the past year has started acting like a puppy again. Personally, I have lost 22 pounds in about 12 months (by choice...I need to lose about 30 more)...no change in diet, just a teaspoon of DE every day in a glass of water, or one half teaspoon twice a day. If you do not need to lose weight, it will not MAKE you lose weight. Mostly, it just regulates our bodies. My intestinal system has never worked so well...EVER! I am not advocating the use of DE as a human product...I am just telling you how it has helped me. If it is safe for dogs as they say, well, why not humans also? We are both mammals.
