My cat has been literally ripping up my stairs! I had tried so many sprays and the double sided tapes, the nail caps, etc. UGH! I figured here we go again...but this time I was wrong! Now, let me say that yes this stuff smells very strong when you spray it and for awhile afterwards - BUT it's not a bad smell...mostly lemongrass and rosemary. But it is strong so those who can't deal with it there is your warning. But if it works, then I think anybody can handle an herbal smell in their home! Oh and one last warning - don't make the the same mistake I did...The first time I used this I really "power-sprayed" my stairs, which made the over-spray settle onto my forearms and hands. No big deal. UNTIL I decided to have a smoke a while later and got the shock of my life that could have been avoided by simply reading the bottle beforehand. But no...apparently I subconsciously wanted to taste this stuff for myself and sample what "bitters" is all about...YEP they added bitters as a deterrent to chewing as well! All I can do is confirm that yes, it is 150% bitter and then some! SO wash your hands after spraying lol! Seriously though, this stuff actually works so try it!
