When researching clear shower curtains, there aren't too many stipulations. It needs to be clear, and it needs to be a shower curtain. That's about it. So there is a three mil option or an eight mil option, bigger is always better, right? So of course I got the 8 mil figuring It would be better. The shower curtains can withstand gunfire up to a .223 round. They will stand up on their own and defend you from the next nuclear bomb. Next time there is a tornado warning I'm going to gather my children and seek shelter under this curtain. We will be trying them on 50 cal and tank cannons this weekend, so I will update my review after that. It is definitely 8 mil as described, and if that is what you need, do purchase this. However if you are not sure what you need, I can assure you you do not need 8 mil. They're a bit of a pain in the butt because they stand up on their own and they are very stiff, so they are constantly coming off of the shower curtain hooks. Next time I will purchase the thinner curtain.
