Holy rainbows!!!
This is a great holo powder and as a nail artist I am super impressed!!! Here's how to use it since I think a lot of people get confused. Hopefully this helps!
.
You really need a No Wipe Gel top coat to apply this product. Once you apply and cure your top coat there are two ways to use this. If you want a full Holo nail like my ring finger in my picture, use the little sponge applicator to dip lightly into the pot and press into the gel top coat (again AFTER you cure it). I find pressing in works best for a powder like this although you can also wipe it in as well, I get better coverage if I press. Once covered brush off with a fluffy brush and light pressure so loose powder comes off then apply ANOTHER layer of the No Wipe top coat and cure. BOOM! DONE!
.
For an ombre effect or to allow more of the base color, it takes a little more practice. I take the sponge applicator and actually pick up a tiny amount from the lid cause I feel that when doing an ombre, less is best. When in doubt dab on a tissue before pressing on you top coat cause it's easier to add than take away. Lightly press on nail starting at the tip and work your way down till your satisfied. I like seeing a lot of color so I really needed extremely little. In fact I used only what was still left in the applicator from my ring finger do do the other nails!
.
So after trying a few techniques, the best for this to be as easy as possible is Press, don't rub, and a No wipe gel top coat is a must!
