Purchased the 8 channel, 8 camera model in April of 2017... I installed it myself- 4 cameras outside and 4 inside (not the private areas) monitoring the entrances, living areas, driveway and yard.. after a while a couple channels started losing video. I discovered if I just reach behind the dvr, unplug the power to that individual camera, plug it back in, it "reboots" that camera and the video returns. Also, I'm kind of a novice or out of practice, but I haven't figured out how to connect the phone to the dvr for remote viewing. Maybe something from not getting a compatible app, to not setting the ip addresses right - couldn't even find a GW Security app... Not a big deal for now as it's doing what we need it to do.. UPDATE: July 2020... dvr started showing a "no hard drive" warning... less than a week later it was constantly beeping and the picture just started flashing constantly... turned it off and wouldn't turn back on... I understand that it's running 24/7, and constantly rewriting on the drive wears hard on on it. But over $450 and I have to spend that much more to replace it after only 3 years ? My stereo receiver is 25 years old and still works perfectly like new... ... Going with a different brand, and getting a 16 channel w/8 more cameras... and hopefully (most of) these old cameras still work..
