I bought two units. I live out on a country road where it is dark. I pointed both at a 40 foot evergreen tree...it looks good up close but it is not noticeable when driving by the house. Then I pointed both on the house. That's better. Downside is the laser dots go into the house wherever there is a clear window. All-in-all I'm pleased with the product...beats putting up Christmas lights!! You really need several units to do justice to any home. UPDATE: I now have 5 units...but realize that once the snow begins to fall here in Wisconsin, the units will quickly be covered and ineffective. I'm trying to find a broom handle with the same threads so I can extend the length of the stake. I'll update if and when I find a solution to this shortcoming. UPDATE: I'm including a photo of how I used zipties to secure the units to stakes so that they won't be covered by snow! I also covered the electrical plugs with clear plastic wrap so I don't have an issue with rain or snow shorting them out.
