High quality supplement as usual for Jarrow
PQQ is a supplement just becoming available the last couple of years; it is reported in research studies to improve the function of mitochondria in your cells (necessary for energy metabolism) and is even capable of stimulating mitochondrial biogenesis (regrowth). It is reported to improve cognitive performance as well as physical endurance and performance under hard exercise. My own experience as an active 62 year old man confirms these claims in a relatively short time frame, much to my surprise. I do use ubiquinol CoQ10 also, which is recommended in combination with PQQ.
I've been using CoQ10 for a long time, and would not say I notice any particular effects physically, but add PQQ to the equation and I was surprised at the results, which in a sense rules out Placebo effects. What I found was that in general I felt lighter on my feet and more agile just for every day physical motion, and my workouts show an improvement in stamina and strength.
Gauging the mental effects if any is a little tougher, as I had come off a period of intensive work and long hours just before the holiday break, but it seems to me I'm even more OCD and assiduous about being organized and responding rapidly and effectively to issues, so perhaps there is benefit there, also. This is all after 3 weeks of use.
There are many supplements which I think are of more benefit to older people, due to the decline in liver function with age and the body's lower effectiveness in synthesizing necessary nutrients and utilizing those which are consumed. I would recommend anyone 50 or over give this a try in combination with CoQ10 (ubiquinol variety). The more physically active, the greater the benefit may be.
