Used this trunk mount to bring my mtn bike to Alaska this summer. Drove 3,000+ miles from Utah to Alaska on the Al-Can highway and had NO PROBLEMS at all. Everytime I stopped for gas I would check my bike and the mount. Everything was fine. The road was VERY bumpy in the Yukon. The mount kept my bike very secure through it all. I was a bit nervous because a couple people reviewed this product saying that the mount came loose or the bike pedals scratched the car. I didn't experience these problems. During my 6 day trip I had put the bike on and tightened the straps every morning before I left. I never had to re-tighten the straps after I had initially mounted my bike each day (but did check them regularly just in case). Thought about buying some of the more pricey models... Very glad I went with this one and spent under $50. No need to pay $100+ on other mounts when this one works perfectly. Overall VERY satisfied with this product. Tips for prospective buyers: I drive a 2001 Acura TL. My bike is a Specialized Hardrock (and I kept the front wheel attached during the entire trip). I purchased a few bungie cords to secure the front wheel/fork and the pedals on my bike. The clips that attach the mount to the trunk are made of METAL. I was worried that it might scratch or crack the paint on my trunk, so I wrapped the metal clips with some electrical tape before attaching the mount. This allowed for a softer contact between the metal clips and my trunk. By doing this, the clips also grip my trunk a bit better.
