I love, love, love my LifeStraw Personal Water Filters! We bought 8 of them (4 for my family when we all go camping or hiking and 4 for our home survival kits). The LifeStraw is very light in weight in comparison to the benefits it provides, it fits perfectly in the side or back pockets of backpacks or cargo pants. Unlike the other filters I have used is the past the LifeStraw offers up to 1000 liters of filtration, which is a huge improvement! HOWEVER.. If you don't know where your water source is coming from, viruses and other little nasties may be some concern. Description says, "Does not filter chemicals, salt, viruses, heavy metals". It was to us. We use KMnO4 to solve it problem. If you Google "KMnO4 SURVIVAL KIT" there is a guy that sells the stuff on ebay. Really cool stuff it's an anti-viral, anti-fungal water purifier and it even starts FIRE! But I digress. For the price, the LifeStraw is well worth it, and I would recommend it to anyone out in the wilderness or for their own survival kits. Just make sure to get some KMnO4 to be on the safe side from any kind or viruses that may also be in the water. -- "Better to have and not need then to need and not have."
