Great filter IF you have the right parts..
So I am coming from a Fluval brand filter to Marineland. I've had Marineland filters for 15 years and they have always served me very well. Did a bit of research before picking this up and price wise this was a no brainier. Got it home, unpacked, had the Oring on top with the supplemental instructions which were good. Everything installed and went well EXCEPT I was getting air intrusion on the intake line. No problem, probably didn't clamp the plastic clamp down properly. Make sure the hose was seated correctly, positioned the clamp exactly as the instructions stated, fired it back up and still had air coming in through the intake hose.
I decided to go superhuman and used pliers on the clamp to provide maximum pressure on it. Surely this would squeeze the hose good enough to keep air from getting in. NOPE! Just as a test I submerged the entire intake assembly and top of the hose on the water, air issue stopped so I knew 100% that the issue was at the hose/intake area as I had suspected. Contacted customer service and they asked for pictures. Once they replied they said I had the clamp on properly and to stop the leak I should go get a metal hose clamp from the hardware store.
Picked up a $1 clamp, tightened and air BE GONE! Issue resolved. Filter is running great now. Hope they decide to include stainless clamps in the future vs the plastic ones. Filter is working great now and the tank is Crystal clear. This canister filter is alsi very quiet compared to the Fluval I had.
UPDATE 1/6/19 - Filer is still running perfectly. No leaks, no noise. Is holding up significantly better than a Fluval 206 I have on another tank which is sprouting leaks EVERYWHERE.
