Here's the most amazing thing about the Bose Soundwear Companion, and I didn't understand about this unique quality before I purchased the Soundwear. There's something about having the speakers a few inches away, and aimed up at your ears, that makes music sound... well, intimate, but spacious at the same time. Listening to music this way is a completely different experience from listening to earbuds, headphones, or regular home speakers. It's hard to explain; it's like a sound cloud that envelopes your head and travels with you, while keeping you in the 'sweet spot' of perfect balance between the various speakers. As an example, play music on your cell at low volume and put the phone about 3 inches below an ear, and aimed at your ear. Now imagine that on both ears, it's really pleasant. Now put the cell's speaker up against your ear, like with earbuds or headphones, it's not the same sensation. This is now my favorite way to enjoy music, and I have been a serious user of high-end components at home (power-amp, pre-amp, etc.) so that's kind of crazy. I would pay $300 for this unique sound quality by itself. Oh, and that same sensation is experienced when on the phone too, with calls being crystal clear. I have probably bought five or six different pairs of Bluetooth earbuds, costing up to $125. They were all crap and I quit using them within days or weeks. I longed for a really high-quality wireless solution, as I need to take random business calls from 8:00 AM to 8 PM (I work from home and also drive to see clients). I needed a solution that worked easily and flawlessly - this does, both on my Mac and iPhone. I didn't want something hanging on or in my ears when not needed, and I have never liked having to insert earbuds when my phone is ringing, especially when I'm driving. Yes, I talk on the phone while driving - I own a business and not taking a call can cost me recurring income. I can easily hear surrounding sounds (like my GPS) and listen to music or use my phone at the same time - Perfect! This is exactly what I have always wanted! Excellent quality, and really easy to use once you get through the learning curve - meaning, no printed manual. Ugh! (It's on the app.) It automatically switches between my desktop computer and my iPhone. As soon as I pause one source and hit play on the other, it instantly switches. Also, it automatically switches to my phone when a call comes in. When the call ends, it switches back to the original source. Very cool! All the instructions state for mobile use, and I installed the app on my iPhone. There is no Apple desktop app and I found out it's not needed at all. In all the years I have bought stuff on Amazon, this is only the third review I've ever written - that's how impressed I am. I'm listening to it right now as I write this, and I forget I'm wearing it - it's that comfortable. I could never say that about any earbuds or headphones. Buy this Bose Soundwear Companion Speaker, if you have needs like mine, and can afford it. And no, I don't work for Bose. :)
