UPDATED May 4, 2018 Bumped my rating up another point to 5 stars. I find myself watching Prime Video nearly every day now. The selection has gotten so huge, I'll never be able to see all the great content on my watchlist. The video player runs beautifully on my Kindle, as well as on PC. Never had any problems. And I love being able to download stuff to watch offline. Well worth the price, especially with the other benefits. UPDATED September 11, 2017: Got a Kindle Fire about five months ago and have had zero problems with the Amazon Video player since. Fast and smooth, just like Netflix, Hulu, et al. Still don't like that a lot of content isn't included with Prime, but have to admit there is a huge selection that DOES come with it, including excellent original shows. Changing my rating from one star to four. Original review, April 2017: I rarely use Amazon Prime video for two main reasons: 1) The player is absolutely terrible. I mainly watch via tablet, and it becomes nearly impossible because everything loads sooooo slowly. Just browsing the library is frustrating because of the glacial speed navigating from page to page. And when I try to watch something, I find myself constantly having to restart because it buffers or just stops completely. Meanwhile, I can watch Hulu and Netflix with none of those problems. 2) There is a decent selection of movies that come with the Prime subscription, but it's frustrating when you search for a tv series or movie that you want to see, only to find that you have to pay an additional $3 just to watch it. For example, to watch all the seasons of Monk would have cost me an extra $100 on top of the subscription price. It's not THAT big a deal, but just feels like a bit of a slap. I've just ordered my first Kindle Fire and am curious to see whether some of the player issues resolve when I am using an Amazon device.
