This is my 3rd Smartish case. I purchased a clear one for my prior phone (SE 2020), a purple one for my wife's 13 mini, and now a clear MagSafe one for my 13 mini. We are happy with all three of them. It fits the mini well, the buttons work easily, and it seems adequately rugged. Neither I nor my wife have yet dropped our 13 minis, but in the 1-1/2 yrs that I had the SE2020 it experienced a few drops and survived them all. The purple one (my wife's) is a nice bright color. Unfortunately, none of the other colors were as appealing to my eye and so to get one I could easily distinguish from hers, I chose the clear. It turned out well. When the phone lays on its face, I see its red color clearly through the case and the interesting white circle+line of the MagSafe feature. When laying on its back, I see the completely black screen surrounded by a thin pearlescent border that helps it stand out when sitting on a surface so I can find it easily, yet isn't so flashy as to stand out on a restaurant table where it might be snatched. I used to use other brands that make more rugged two-part cases, but they were larger, harder to install, and the buttons did not work as well. I think the Smartish is a good balance between a tank and something more usable. I like the pebble-grain perimeter that makes it easy to pick up and grip (much easier than a naked iPhone). Although the clear back is slick, the border stands out above its perimeter so when laying on a surface it will not easily slide if bumped or if the surface is tilted. As for the clarity of the clear case, time will tell. However, I just took a look at my 1-1/2 yr old SE 2020 case and it has mildly yellowed with age, so I suspect if you want clear clear, you might be replacing your case in a couple of years. Fortunately, due to Smartish's lifetime warranty they will replace a case due to yellowing as they confirmed to me in an email. However for most users, if you keep your iPhone about 4 years (industry estimated average use life), the case should likely be fine as long as you don’t mind a bit of discoloration. And finally, I am pleased to note that they are quite responsive to questions and comments via email, responding back within a day or so. I like a manufacturer that is easy to contact.
