A good starter boot
The most important statement about this boot is that the other reviewers should be heeded. The SIZING IS VERY INACCURATE. I wear an 8.5 but needed a 10 to fit well. I held the boot up to my Bates duty boots and Vasque hiking shoes to find that they were the same size even though they were labeled a ten. The other negative item to be aware of is that the soles of these are not really made for what would be labeled moderate-difficult in a hike. I broke them in yesterday on a moderate hike 7.5 miles. The soles don't have "teeth" like the more expensive hikers do. I didn't realize the difference until I was crossing a stream on a string of piled rocks. They DO NOT GRIP dry or wet rocks that aren't flat. Now that the negative is out of the way these ARE WATERPROOF as advertised. I know this because they don't grip rocks and I my left foot was submerged more than once up to 5 inches yet remained completely dry and cozy. There is more good news. Anyone who has a problem with supplenation or pronation, knee or hip aches after long distances this is a good shoe. There was some advertising stating that the shoes have a sort of technology to prevent supplenation/pronation and stabilize the foot better. IT WORKS!!! NO KNEE ACHE for me with these. Also my ankles felt pretty good and overall the level of fatigue evened out between my left and right sides. Last but not least, once you settle on a size the shape is good for long hikes I forecast that like yesterday NO BLISTERS. They are scheduled for a 10 mile moderate hike next week so if anything changes I'll update my review.
