Likely saved my life! Love it!
Notice the "Nervous System Health" in the description- no shit, take that seriously because there's this little thing out there called Dysautonomia, which can in fact be caused by a B-1 Deficiency. Don't be fooled by all the little * that NOW has to put all over their product info to keep the FDA dogs at bay. The book "Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High-Calorie Malnutrition" clearly lays out all the strange things that can happen when you have a B-1 deficiency.
I'm taking NOW Vitamin B1 to keep sleep apnea at bay. It's working! Thank God! There's nothing more terrifying waking up from a dream in which you have stopped breathing gasping for breath because you have in fact stopped breathing. I was also having these weird diaphragm flutters as I was falling asleep and snoring loudly which I had never done before. It was like my body/diaphragm had forgotten how to breathe properly especially when I was asleep and my autonomic nervous system had to take over. I later learned that this is called dysautonomia.
My first clue that my sleep apnea might be caused by a B-1 deficiency was watching Dr. Berg's YT video "How to Get Your Spouse to Stop Snoring" (It's amazing what you can find at 2:30 in the morning.). I had this NOW B-1 in the house and decided to give that a try - it worked within 24 hrs. I am taking up to 8 spread out throughout the day. I also keep a bottle on my nightstand, if I feel any weird diaphragm twinges during the night I take an extra one. As long I take them every day I don't have sleep apnea. Yes, 8 or more - that many! If you suspect you have a severe deficiency read Erin's story at floxiehope.com and hormonesmatter.com.
I discovered more about my weird symptoms after reading Erin J. Davis' review of "Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High-Calorie Malnutrition". I don't have a clue what caused me to have such a serious deficiency. For Erin, it was the antibiotic Metronidazole (Flagyl). I did take Macrobid for a bladder infection. Who knows. Thankfully, these are solving the problem. I would actually give more stars if I could - these are a life saver!
