I have a grumpy old main coon mix...he hates trips to the vet, but with age he has had a harder time cleaning his back regions. Neither of us was happy with my having to give him showers regularly to clean him off, but there are only 2 local vets that will clip cats. So, I set up an appointment, the earliest one was a month away, and in we went, only to have them lose my appointment. So, instead of paying 60 dollars for a one time trim, I looked online, watched some video's, ordered these, and then followed the old grump around the house for about a week, intermittently turning them on and off to get used to the sound, and running the casing down his back to get use to the vibration. At first he was not real happy with me, but once he realized how much cooler he was, and how much easier it was to keep himself clean. Well, now every time he hears the clippers come on, he runs and sits in front of me to get a trim. He does usually get bored about halfway through, but if I spread it out over a few days, we are all good. Plus my other long haired little fluff-ball loves it too, he likes to get shaved and then rub against everything, and press himself against the glass in the windows. I know I have little freaks, but this has been a great investment for me. I now shave them each down twice a year and can do sanitary upkeep all winter long without dragging the old man out into the cold weather. All in all, if you have the patience, time, and a high level of trust with your cats, I very much recommend this. I don't know about professional, but it worked great for me.
