storing my flour in here and still alive
I'm surprised to see all of the reviews that caution against using these containers for food. I've had at least one, but usually several of these glass storage jars in various sizes on my counter tops for fifteen or twenty years without a single tragic outcome. I've dropped the lids on counters and rarely tile floors and never had one break. No chips on the rims, no broken shards skidding across the kitchen floor. Is a trouble free jar really rare these days? This style of jar has been a quintessential fixture in candy stores for what, maybe a hundred years? If they are good enough to hold candy for children for dozens of generations I'm not sure how we can't manage to store a couple of pounds of sugar or flour in here without fear of causing irreparable harm to our families. Then again I never wore a seat belt or a bike helmet as a kid and somehow I'm still here. Guess I'm living fast and loose with Anchor Hocking.
