Admiral Fancypants was born into this world a lost soul, adrift at sea. He looked like a cat and talked like a cat - but he didn't act like a cat. He struggled to cover his poop, pawing everything around him except the poop; he would not tolerate being brushed (!); he licked tape; he didn't knead on your lap or turn around in circles to find the most comfortable spot to entrap you; nor could he solve complex differential equations like most cats I know - rather, he got up into your face ("to follow you with my eyes," he said); he whistled when he slept; he chased his tail (endlessly) until he walked like a drunk sailor; and he was waaay too friendly for a cat. When I asked him why he couldn't be more like a cat, Admiral replied, "That ship has sailed." What's a cat mom to do? Exasperated, I purchased the FUKUMARU Cat Scratching Box and Pads - and this has turned out to be an absolute cat-changing experience. The box is very sturdy - sturdier than your average Amazon box - and the scratching pads are nicely compressed to allow a cat - even a high-ranking one like Admiral - to get his scratch on without compromising the comfort of his quarters. More than anything, this product has revealed to Admiral his true nature: He sleeps all day and doesn't whistle! He knocks pencils off the table! He watches birds! He ignores you when he feels like it! He even understands the fundamentals of quantum physics (although he's smarting a bit about that Schrodinger's Cat experiment). Ready for some constructive criticism? Well, as Admiral puts it, "You're gonna need a bigger boat." The box is a tight fit for Admiral's brother, Commodore Fluffypaws , who is quite, uh... "portly" - a fat cat (if you will) in more ways than one. Admiral, at 11 pounds, fits nicely in this box. Fortunately for Admiral, Commodore (whose driver's license says he is a svelte 15 lbs) has been unable to effect mutiny aboard ship for fear of spilling out over the deck and going overboard. But don't let that turn you away from this product -- it is AWESOME! I only ask that FUKUMARU consider making a larger one for the shamelessly rotund!
