These work very well for my cat, however, I've had to experiment over time to get it right. These tips may not work for other cats, but in case they do, here's what worked for us. She loooves these but they are too big for her to chew, so I always break them up into smaller pieces. I've noticed over time that this must help it get into her system better because her feline herpes (compliments of the shelter) symptoms seem to be less when the pieces are smaller. I also make sure she has a dish of water right next to it as they get dry. Even if the package is moist when it is first opened and you make sure the seal is intact each time it is re-closed, they still get dry. Also, thanks to other reviewers who posted that their vets recommended a higher dosage, I experimented with the amount I give her per day by a half of a treat/several days increase until I found the right maintenance dose for her. If her symptoms crop up, I slightly increase the dosage until they subside and cut back a bit on her daily food to make up for the calorie difference. This is the only way she will take her "medicine" so it's made it worth my time to break them into pieces! :-) Thanks to all reviewers who've helped me make informed decisions and experiment and give this product a chance! And thanks to Amazon and its vendors for making this product affordable or I would have had a difficult choice to make re: my cat's health and happiness.
