This steamer is a winner!
At 1800+ watts, this steamer is a winner! Today was my first time unpacking and using it on a garment. Before buying, I read a lot of the reviews and liked what I read. One common comment was how small the hole for the water tank is. It’s true. My solution though is very manageable. I used a gravy separator to add water to the tank. (Previously used it to fill my iron.) I didn’t spill a drop.
Unlike one review, I found the instructions easy to follow even though they folded out like a map. The English instructions are all on the bottom half and one only needs to read the pages from left to right. Turn it over and the remaining instructions are still at the bottom. No problem.
As people recommended, I waited longer than the advertised 40 seconds to heat up. I went about 1:40 minutes. Truthfully, I was surprised as how fast the blue light went from blinking to solid!
I only used the lowest of five settings to get the results you can see in the photo. (Only one side was steamed so you can easily see the difference.)
The built in creaser is slick. At first I tried to pull the fabric through without lifting the crease arm. Results were okay but I had difficulty avoiding puckers and with keeping the edge lines up. Then I tried lifting the crease arm slightly up and down (can easily do so with the thumb of the hand holding the steamer) and it was much easier to move the fabric through the creaser.
I assumed that I could only get results like this from a full size steamer—and I actually bought one, but never tried it after reading the owner’s manual. This Conair Steamer proved that my assumption was wrong. If I’m happy with the results on the lowest setting, I’m excited about the possibilities when using higher settings.
Overall, the product is high quality and perfect for my use which is only steaming one or two garments at a time. The attachments are EASY to put on and take off the unit (unlike the full size steamer I bought). When not using, the attachments and instructions easily fit into a snack-size ziplock bag. I’m thrilled that I don’t have to pull out an ironing board in my small house. I’m just hanging the garment to be steamed on a shower door, so I also don’t have to worry about damaging a door. On my first attempt using the steamer, I incurred NO steam burns which says a lot because I’m a bit clumsy. By the way, I believe all the buttons will work as well for left-handed users as well as right-handed—I’m right-handed.
Along with the product instructions and my tips, I believe you you will be very pleased when using this Conair Steamer.
