I've gone through several of the older (and less expensive) Progressive nut choppers. They were the best (as America's Test Kitchen also observed), but they had several shortcomings. The clear plastic was brittle and prone to cracking or shattering. The top tended to unscrew from the base as the crank was turned. On rare occasions a tooth broke off and landed hazardously in the chopped nuts. The new model corrects all those shortcomings and is an absolute joy. Mini-food-processors and "slap-chops" make nut dust combined with large chunks. This nut chopper is the only tool that easily makes uniformly chopped nuts. Cleanup is just a quick rinse.
