4th brand - Oregon, B&D, SunJoe and Craftsman...this holds its own
I own and use polesaws on a regular basis. We live in Florida where trimming trees is a year round issue so over the years I've tried a lot of different brands ranging from Oregon to B&D, SunJoe and now this Craftsman...that is just the battery versions. Undoubtedly the most powerful and problematic has been the Oregon saw...it cuts like butter - when it's running but the thing is buggy and prone to problems. The SunJoe did the job but barely...it's weak and while it works fine for light use, it falters when confronted with anything more serious. The B&D has held up well and went through some decent abuse/use over the past couple of years. Strong enough to tackle more than just light shrubs but essentially problem free. Then there is this one...out of the box this has more heft (both a good and bad thing). I like the 3 piece ergonomic feel and fit which is easy to use, fairly well balanced with good control. Comes with a blade cover and this is powerful enough to handle moderate sized small branches with ease. Didn't seem to snag or choke up...works at least as good - I'd say better - than the B&D and starting to approach the Oregon in terms of power. It's not quite there yet but if it continues to perform without issue, I'd buy it before another Oregon given how much trouble that machine has given me plus the price with is almost double. Overall a solid performance!
