This item works fine. We crush 2-5 cans a day. No issues. I think most of the people with issues didn't lube it and don't understand how strong cans are designed to be. I used white lithium grease so it slides up and down effortlessly. Then if you are not a moron and pre crush in the side so the can can collapse on itself it crunches them every time. If a woman with carpel tunnel in both hands can do this, there is no reason people should be complaining about force required or bending the can crusher. Use some logic folk and it'll work fine.
