I bought this for my fiance who has back issues. Here's what needs to be said about the product. It is about 5 pounds so if you're looking for a heavier weight, this is not the product for you as the weight is distributed throughout the entirety of the blanket but it does have some weight to it. As for the heat, if you are looking for something to get really hot then this is not the product for you. On a scale of 1 to 10 of heat (where 1 is no heat at all and 10 is scalding hot water), I would say it hits about a 6 to a 7. It takes about 5-10 minutes for the heat to be distributed throughout the beads inside the blanket. As for length of the heating pad, it will cover most of the back, depending on body type. A shorter person will have full back coverage going down the spine but if you're 5'10" or taller, it will cover most of it. My fiance loves it and fell asleep while using it the first time. It helped relieve some of her back pain.
