Correct Directions and 8 Points
For those of you having trouble with your Spa Vapor: I've been reading the reviews and think I can clear up a few negatives I see. I bought my "Spa Vapor +" elsewhere, by the way, at a local health food store.
1. I ordered one for my daughter in another state and she couldn't get hers to work like mine did, which she saw on a visit. I kept asking her if she followed directions - yes! she kept insisting. Finally I got her take a picture and send me her directions. They were old directions evidently - not like the ones that came in my box! In hers, the fill line is indicated at the top with an arrow! It will never mist that way! PROBLEM SOLVED. The fill line is around the middle of the container. She loves it now, just as she did mine on her visit. Correct directions attached. I was going to attach the bad directions too just so some people could see them but decided that might be confusing.
2. Type of Water. We have so many filters on our well, there's no way it compares with the recommended tap water. We use "spring water" from the grocery store or an ozonated water from the store since we have a water cooler type dispenser - the machine where you can fill bottles, sometimes in the front of a grocery store or in walmart. Both work fine.
3. Greenair no longer recommends using vinegar to clean your Spa Vapor. I called Greenair and they told me to forget that.
4. Slimy Film. If you don't rinse out the unit often enough, a white film will gather on the bottom inside that you have to wipe away after rinsing. I then take a q-tip and just go around the crevices and center a little, then wipe with paper towel or cloth. To really rinse, I use a kitchen sprayer for force - cover the hole at the top first so no water gets in!!! Don't let water get in that hole or a sensor may be compromised then it's probably all over.
5. How long the vapor lasts. I use expensive doTerra oils and cheap Now oils and find that it just depends on the kind of oil. Some blast out for an hour or two, others slowly mist for much longer - as Greenair says they should. Purify by doTerra lasts about 7-8 hours, no kidding, and I tried this 3 days in a row. I love it when that happens - nice and long-lasting a long time. I've never read this anywhere but it evidently does depend on the oil. Amount of oil too? I don't know, but I go for 5-6 drops.
6. Citrus. I know someone who uses citrus oils all the time and so do I though Instructions warn this could damage the unit, but so far so good, I'm definitely including citrus - that happy influence, especially grapefruit - but be warned as the company says. I'm willing to buy another one should it happen. (Also, the unit may get discolored inside if not rinsed often enough.)
7. I turn off the unit when leaving the room or house so I can get enjoy it longer, then just turn it back on when I come home.
8. At night I sometimes leave it on with the lights off (left switch), and find I enjoy the mild white noise of the unit.
This is awesome if you get the right directions and a few tips! Good luck.
