Based on other reviews, I ordered this cloth to use as an altar cloth. When it arrived, I was so impressed with it that I didn't want to cover it up! Instead, I sewed some felt pockets onto the back and bought a rod/cord and changed it into a tapestry that forms the backdrop of my altar. Based on other reviewers' recommendations to wash by hand, I wanted to avoid washing at all because I'm afraid of damaging it or dulling the vibrant black of the cloth...another reason for the tapestry idea. It's a reasonably heavy cloth - not easy to see through at all, and much thicker than I was expecting for the price. Very, very happy with my purchase...completes my altar and provides a nice pagan wall hanging for the room. My husband and children also really like the way it looks. :)
