This is a crazy good machine! My first loaf out of it came out amazing! I made a 1 lb. loaf on the quick setting. I thought there was no way this thing is going to make bread in under an hour! I got proved wrong. I did not follow any of the instructions out of the manual. I am not a pro at making bread but have made all kinds by hand before, it is not hard. I added the basics in the proportions recommended off of a website, I did not use bread flour, I used just plain white flour mixed 50/50 with whole wheat flour. Set the machine and stood there watching it, starring through the window the whole time, LOL! Just like a little kid amazed :-) The machine mixed quietly, kneeded, rose then baked, out popped this perfect colored loaf! The machine did not walk off the counter as in other reviews. During mixing I had to add a little flour because the dough was too wet, no big emergency...To think I almost spent $250 for a bread maker makes me sick to my stomach after using this! There is a reason this is a top seller on Amazon and is rated so well.... for $59.00 I feel I ripped them off! Buy it, you will love it! It does all the same things the $250 machines do. I really liked the fact that through the baking process you could still touch the machine and not burn yourself. Parts of it were hot, but, if I had to move it I could, and the bottom where the handles are stays completely cool. I would buy another one right now, in a heartbeat! This would make a great gift for someone at this price point! The toast is amazing!! Oh so crunchy edges, Thankfully I will never have to buy store bought bread ever again! The toast went down with grape jelly and a cup of hot Earl Grey tea, heaven. I am impressed! Thanks Oster and Amazon!
