The element isn't on, it's an LED.
I take it on trips to heat the freezing bathrooms in motels. Works great. Only takes up a little space in the luggage. There is a little red LED behind the heating element, which is why people think the element is staying on. It isn't. It's a ceramic heater, there is no exposed element. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's too expensive for a little heater.
