I see about 20 garter snakes each summer and they go under my concrete front porch. They also come up on the concrete at night to lay in the concrete. I hate them and it makes me hermit in my house more than I should. I used this for the first time last summer after seeing a few. I never saw one again. Maybe a coincidence but I personally don't think so. It smells like cinnamon and cloves. They recommend reapplying every 3 months but I did it every month. I have grass and a garden bed that I put it directly on and it did not seem to affect anything. Grass stayed very green and flowers bloomed. I also sprinkled some in the deep cracks of my concrete where I have seen them go
