I bought this for my wife -- I tend to be anti-gadget, and I distrust product hype. But since it arrived with multiple heads (tips) I figured I'd use one of the heads for myself. The first time it hurt my gums, even on soft mode. But I tried it again a few days later and it I found it much less painful (as long as I use warm or lukewarm water). A couple of months later of semi-regular use and I made a trip to the dentist, where I was told: whatever I'm doing -- keep it up. Now I use it daily, albeit still on soft mode. I find that it is easier to use than dental floss (maybe because my teeth are crowded) and is particularly effective at getting to the hard-to-reach spaces between my back teeth. And so I fill it up more than once per application; so what? It is simple, convenient, not tedious, and evidently effective.
