i have an almost 3 year old boy who loves nothing more than to give me heart attacks. he tipped his dresser over one day after pulling out all of the drawers and climbing it. its a VERY sturdy high quality dresser, and quite heavy. my husband had previously tested it with his full weight and did not think it would tip. so we didnt secure it. well......when i heard the THUD and tears, and ran into his room during naptime....i found him laying on the floor with the dresser hovering over him with only a small cut above his eye. if he had not opened the bottom drawer, which braced the full weight of the dresser and luckily did not snap or slam closed, i could have walked in on a very very different scene. i took this as my VERY lucky warning shot, snuggled my little man, and vowed to fix this hazard right away. i ordered these straps, they came VERY quickly, and my husband installed them. he had no problems, the directions are very easy. based on other reviews, we bought higher quality screws just to be on the safe side. the dresser is very secure now, and i am grateful i had the opportunity to do something to keep my wee man safe. if you are hesitating about whether or not tethering your furniture is necessary, dont. tether it. because i know i would never have forgiven myself if my child was severely injured or killed by something so easily prevented. learn from our close call.
