I purchased this lamp and it was defective - the touch sensor didn't work. Since Amazon has such an effortless return policy, I didn't contact the manufacturer about it and just returned it to Amazon and received a refund. I also posted a review, noting the issues I had with this lamp. As others have noted, the touch sensor is hit-or-miss and many other customers had problems similar to mine. About a day after I posted my review, Aukey contacted me directly, offering to send me a replacement lamp free of charge. After confirming my mailing address on Friday, I received a replacement lamp on Monday. Now - my original review noted that this was an extremely nice lamp. I was very happy with the lamp as a whole; my only issue was that the touch sensor wasn't responsive. Another problem I noted was that the lamp was extremely lightweight and had a smooth bottom, so touching the lamp to activate the sensor caused the whole lamp to shift across whatever surface it was on. I believe my original lamp was an older version, or just one that happened to be defective. My replacement is perfection! The touch sensor works extremely well. There is an indicator light on the front that glows blue at all times when the lamp is plugged in. There are three levels of brightness to the white light - one touch turns the indicator light yellow and it turns on at the lowest brightness; a second touch turns the indicator light orange and the brightness goes up a level; and a third touch turns the indicator light red and then you get full brightness. My first lamp didn't do that at all - the indicator just turned red when the sensor was touched. Holding your finger on the sensor for a few seconds activates the color changing mode. Hold your finger on the sensor for a couple of seconds when the lamp is on and the lamp turns off. The strength of the light is excellent - the lowest white light setting is fairly bright; I would think it is too bright for a night-light in a room where you were sleeping, but would be an excellent minimal light in a hallway or bathroom. The middle brightness is great and the highest brightness is sufficient to read by. The range of light is very large - it lights upward from the base and the light is cast around the room very well. At the highest brightness setting, it easily illuminates a regular-size room comfortably. The color changing mode is spectacular - an extremely wide range of colors and shades that shift smoothly. This mode also puts out a great deal of illumination; just in a variety of colors. Best of all, this lamp has a silicon ring on the bottom that keeps the lamp stationary on whatever surface it is sitting on! Others have noted that the blue indicator light on the front and the red power light where the power cord plugs in are somewhat bright, especially in a dark room. My initial lamp had both of those lights and they were somewhat bright. However, this replacement doesn't have the red power light at the power cord - just the blue indicator light in the front. I don't find it to be exceptionally bright and it doesn't bother me at night, but your mileage may vary. Overall, this is a wonderful lamp; however, I want to emphasize how impressive Aukey is as a company. They saw my 3-star review, read it, noted the issues I had with their product, contacted me, and sent me a new item - absolutely free of charge. They were courteous and responsive to my issues and provided me with a solution. I admit that I am very spoiled by Amazon's no-hassle return policy and I never contact sellers or manufacturers with any issues I may have - I find it much easier to just return the item to Amazon. However, this experience has been so positive with Aukey that I highly recommend anyone having an issue with any of their products to contact the company directly. I am extremely impressed with this company as a whole and very satisfied with this lamp. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good, adjustable lamp with a low profile. In the future, I will have no hesitation with purchasing other items from this company. Great service!
