I own 3 3D printers and bought this thinking it would be a great way to scan various parts in for creating .stl files for printing, this device is a steaming pile of _____ , cannot scan an apple or anything with 20 hours of work. Update I last used the scanner in October of 2014, and it would fail in the calibration process 3 out 10 times and always the first few times and the scans were a complete fail. I tried many different lighting conditions and settings and then gave up. I saw the scanner come up on Amazon and vented a little in this review. I got an email very soon there after with a request to try the newest software and if that did not work a promise of further support and possible refund....... Can I just say that to get that kind of response is unheard of and I could do nothing but give this device another try. Downloaded new software and started first calibration in under 10 mins, calibration worked perfectly, I picked a small potato as my first object and selected the correct option for single color object. The scan is lightyears better than before. I am now rethinking my scanning options and will give updates as needed for this product because the company cares and truly believes in the products they have created.
