Great product if used only for 1-4 year olds
See the 9 photos I took to help you. As the first person to review this product I felt a great deal of responsibility to do a thorough review, because if you are like me you have spent a lot of time researching your options on here and fretting about using it for your child or grandchild. LIKES: * Air holes for circulation which also seem less likely to grow something in there if moisture did somehow get in. *Soft and cushiony but won't completely flatten under weight. * Fiberglass cover for fireproofing is more safe than chemical additives for fireproofing IF it is contained under another cover so that when you wash the outside zipper cover you won't be exposed to fiberglass pieces and have them create irritation to skin, become airborne, and/or get everywhere, and this has that cover! In the closeup picture of mattress without zipper cover on and backlit from window you can see the slight hatchmarks that sort of look like a tight gauze under a thin outer cover, that's the contained fiberglass wrap. And with backlighting you can see no tiny shards, only a little curly fabric fiber. *Tri-fold design is portable and the carrying case, though thin and light is constructed well *Biloban company, though based in China, responds quickly to email and sells many infant bedding products which are highly rated, and they do have a website. *Polyester zipper cover is nice and fairly easy to remove and put back on the three foam sections. It is lined to be waterproof and the outside is soft. Each of the three sections has its own long zipper. Keeping a finger inside while zipping will help the zipper to not get caught. It is metal, not plastic, so use care. *Foam did not have any off-gassing at all and very little compression effect. I gave it a couple days anyway to fill out before removing cover to wash and create this review. DISLIKES: *No tag on the mattress itself confirming what the foam is made of. I thought that was against U.S. law. *Was mailed in a clear round thick plastic case that was a little too small even though tightly rolled to fit, because one corner was kinked and folded to the point that it needed the two days to recover out of package and even after several days two pieces have a slight bowing to them. This may go away with use, though. *The three pieces are not uniform in thickness, length, width, though they are very close, but the worst part is that the overall measurements are about an inch shorter each in thickness, length, and width advertised. This is my greatest complaint. *Because of them being slightly smaller than stated size and slightly off on cut, the fit inside the Pack N Play leaves gaps in both length and width (see the two pictures showing this). Also, I had not realized that my particular Pack N Play interior corners are not rounded, so corners have even more gap with the mattress rounded corners than if this really were the length and width it claims. If your interior corners are rounded it will fit better than in mine. OVERALL VERDICT: My opinion is this is GOOD for toddlers through preschoolers BUT NOT BABIES under one, yet the company has no tag or literature with the product or statement here that gives any caution like this. A baby in his or her first year really needs the firmness and tight fit that the original Pack N Play padded board gives in order to reduce suffocation risk, and that is why they say not to use mattresses in them. But as the baby is older and heavier as a young child I want to give a little cushion for comfort for naps at Grandma's and when we go camping or other travel, and for this purpose the slightly smaller size creating slight gaps is not a problem for me and I am keeping and liking this portable product for all the likes mentioned above.
