half of everyone have variants in our BCMO1 gene which cause a 30% to 70% decrease in the amount of vitamin A we can convert
I have had good results in general with the solgar brand. I found this dry version to be very effective beyond some of the things like acne that most may hear about and is in a good dose that I can adjust as needed adding more or cutting while being inexpensive. Another one I used is cod liver oil from rosita's or nordic naturals-arctic, but not the D fortified version as a more natural version. This being a tablet is convenient when that is not an option. There’s a common misunderstanding that beta-carotene found in fruits and vegetables is the same thing as vitamin A. Beta Carotene can be converted to retinol which is the active form, but I found that almost half of everyone have variants in our BCMO1 gene which cause a 30% to 70% decrease in the amount of vitamin A that we can convert from beta-carotene.This means that – contrary to popular wisdom – vegetables like carrots and red peppers are not adequate food sources of vitamin A for most. I would imagine that would impact vegetarians/vegans the most, but I dont get much of the retinol forms of A too often and my multi has beta carotene form so I decided to supplement. I also found out that Vitamin D depletes Retinol in the liver and vitamin A is also necessary for increasing the production of ceruloplasmin to make copper and iron more bio available. The body uses retinol in a variety of ways including in stem cells, photoreceptors in the eye, epithelial cells, embryonic cells, various immune cells, red blood cells, and much more. Not very scientific, but I believe my eyes stuck together when I woke up when the A was low. Let me know what you find. Has my review been of help to you? If so, would you consider hitting the "helpful" button below? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
