I've used these devices at work for years, taking many many measurements to document as-built conditions. This latest one from Bosch is a cool unit--I love the size, bright, easy-to-read LCD screen and the neat features. There are a few things that truly bug me though. First and foremost, the buttons feel cheap and just don't have a super nice (and light) reliable push/feel. Seems that just the right amount of pressure right in the center is needed to activate the button, which sometimes takes several tries when operating the unit one-handed. Very often this is the case in the field, when my other hand is busy holding a pad of paper or supporting my body in a tight attic space, etc. Really I would compare the buttons to the cheapest possible tv remote out there. Probably no different in operation than their less-deluxe models, which is a shame. Secondly, this thing blows through batteries crazy fast. Not a huge deal.. I figured it would, but lithium batteries are almost a must. Lastly, this device does not have a units setting to measure decimal inches. All the previous models (not Bosch) that I've used do have this. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
