Works quite well, impressed with initial results. Update: less so after months of ownership
With two cats and lots of Spring pollen we keep up the vacuuming with 2 Neato vacuums, one upstairs, one down. As with vacuuming, my wife and I both dislike mopping as well. The house is 80% hardwood, 20% tile, no thresholds. I've been researching robot mops and considered the 240 but didn't want to babysit it - removing the battery for recharging and positioning it to properly cover a large area. The Braava Jet m6 became available and met all our needs. It covers a large area unattended, returns to base to recharge, can be set on a schedule and works with alexa.
How does it work? Quite well over only a few days of ownership. On setup I noticed a firmware download was available, so let it do so. I first set it out on a dry mopping run to view how it operates. Even though the Neato had run 2 days prior, it still picked up quite a bit due to the pollen. But its main purpose was to mop. I let it recharge, changed out the pad and set it to mopping our hardwood floors. I'm quite impressed with the results. It did a great job, the floors look clean and we didn't have to drag out the pail, mop and cleaners.
It's still mapping out the downstairs on training runs, so I haven't been able to finish the maps and define rooms. It'll be nice when that's available and alexa can be used to tell it to clean the kitchen. It did a superb job on both the hardwood and tile floors.
Bottom line: I like it, it's quiet, it's efficient and eliminates a chore that is disliked. The floors will be mopped quite a bit more often thanks to the Braava jet m6.
I ordered replacement pads, cleaner, reusable pads directly from iRobot as I couldn't find them yet here on amazon.
Updated: 22 Mar 2020 My initial positive impressions of this mop have turned into frustration. Since it gets used perhaps every 3-4 weeks, it now takes almost 15 minutes of "mopping" before ANY solution is dispensed from the nozzle. I then have to send the robot back to base and restart the cleaning cycle. I am only using the approved iRobot cleaning solution.
iRobot's remedy for this is to wipe the nozzle area clean (per their written instructions), but this is nonsense. They need to come up with a better cleaning solution that doesn't clog. My fear is it will get to a point where it doesn't spray at all (more than likely after the warranty expires).
It still does a nice job cleaning the floors, but since it now requires a bit of babysitting to ensure it's working properly, my review is now 3 stars.
Updated: 5 Aug 2020 After a few more months of ownership and use, I'm increasing my review rating to 4 stars. I find that the more often it's used, the quicker it starts to spray. The answer to the slow dispensing issue is to use it more frequently. I'm still quite impressed with how well a job it does cleaning the floors.
