What a difference!
Years ago, I bought a set of knives from Amway, and the instructions said they should be sharpened by a professional, not using a home sharpener. Since I couldn't find any professional knife sharpeners (I didn't try that hard), my knives simply got duller and duller without my really noticing it. Trying to cut a raw sweet potato was the eye-opener for me. Amway doesn't sell these knives any more and I thought I was going to have to invest in a high-end ($$$) set, but just didn't want to spend the money.
Bought this sharpener after seeing some reviews on it, but it arrived during a week of illnesses, so it sat in its box for a couple of weeks before I got it out and followed the instructions to watch the video. The video was simple, but informative, and I ran my knife through slots #1 and #2 ten times.
Holy Cow. The difference in just that small amount of sharpening was amazing. I then grabbed every sharp knife I had in the kitchen, serrated and all, and ran them through the device. It was easy, it was quick, and the results were gratifying. I need to go back with some of them and give them a few more run-throughs, but the video said to start with 5 or 10, and see if it was enough for your purpose, and that's what I did.
I hope this sharpener lasts a long time, because I don't think I want to be without it.
