A Careful Unbiased Review Addressing the 1 Stars
Let's start right in on the existing negative reviews. First, the majority complain this filter does not reduce Total Dissolved Solids. That is in fact correct. It is NOT designed to reduce TDS. Says so right in the ad, and right on the packaging and instructions. Only Reverse Osmosis reduces TDS. Match your expectations to the product you buy.
Second largest complaint is the fittings supplied don't match the sink connections. Again, correct. The included hoses fit the 1/2" standard hose connections the majority of existing installations have, and the adaptors work just fine on the larger hose/shutoff connections. This is clearly shown in the instructions.
Third, people complain about the filter connection and leaks. The push in connectors both click and lock into the filter. I could not remove them without engaging the release mechanism. If yours leaks after inserting correctly, get a refund. If it leaks at the hose connections then you didn't connect them properly. If you are under the sink with wrenches, then surely you have a supply of good teflon tape in your tool kit. Use it and not the included tape for piece of mind and dripless connections.
Fourth, the rattling sound in the new filter is the granular filter media. It's dry, it rattles, it isn't broken. Install it, use it, move on.
Every year our municipal water gets a pond-like odor similar to algae. It's harmless, but smells and tastes odd. This filter immediately solved that. It took me more time to get my tools together and clean out the place under the sink than the installation. 10 minutes at most, no runs, no drips, no errors. The filtered water is equal to our Brita pitcher which now goes into the closet or to Goodwill. Read the instructions, watch a YouTube video or two, take your time, install it properly, flush the filter for a few minutes, enjoy the filtered water. If you have a legit defective filter, then the seller is on the hook. If you have incorrect expectations or screw up the install, then it's on you.
