Amazing for a free game! Amazing for anything,really...
Free farming games are my obsession, even if I don't play Hay Day much anymore. Hay Day is not available on Kindle(trust me, I tried), which make me sad. So, I still wanted a farming/building game on my Kindle. Lately, I had been seeing this game called Township being advertised a lot. I took a look at the reviews, good and bad, and since I have better luck with technology, I decided to give it a go.
When I opened the game first, the tutorials were short but explanatory, which is good because when you give a customer bad tutorials they tend to DELETE the associated app. I easily caught on to the game and it was simple, working similarly to Hay Day with the farm building, field sowing and barn storage. However, the only thing about it is that it doesn't use anything to sow. Each field gives you one crop which makes so products are more expensive. Cookies are 44 coins each! Other is no silo and you start out with little storage and materials are long time to get to upgrade.
Just a tip-remember to stock up on certain items. Wheat, corn, carrots, and other crops used to make textiles, feeds, food products, and other stuff are important because without animal feed, animals won't produce. When the animals don't produce certain orders are out of reach and therefore you have a harder time earning coins.
Also, rarely use Township Cash on chests. Most of the time you get 1 construction material. Once, I used 2 cash and got 7, but I don't think that's normal...
The helicopter orders are the easiest to fill, as they require less goods and less time. Next come the trains-their can be a lot of cars to full, and often the orders require either a wait or spending Township Cash for a quick production completion. Last are the airplane orders. I haven't unlocked the airport yet so I don't have too much counsel on this, but I know the concept-there are 3 decks. Each deck contains 2 crates, so there are 6 crates in all. Each crate needs certain goods to fill, and oftentimes goods are manufactured. Other is a time limit to fill all the crates-then you get the reward for the crates that you filled. But there's a twist! In both trains and airplane, you can ask for help on each tier. You can unlock up to three trains as you progress in levels. You can ask for help in one familiar per train, and wait for your friends to help you out. In return, you can accept the help and send a thank-you letter with a clover back. The same applies to airplanes. Now you might be asking-what the neck does a clover do? As you progress through the game, you can build special items when you reach a certain level. The first of these is the House of Luck. It costs 800 coins and 12 hours of time to build. You can play minigames there and win prizes-but in order to play you need to use a clover.
Now let's talk about money. Coins are the basic value in Township and aren't too hard to gain. However, it is a bit harder than in other games like it, say Fashion Story, so there's a little challenge added there. Most of the things that you can buy are bought using coins. Some special items are bought with ingots, but that's a different topic altogether. Then there's Township Cash. Like in some games a special, more valuable form of cash would be gems, in this game it's dollars. They look like U.S dollars with a T in a circle and that's about it. You can buy missing construction materials, needed materials from fields and farms, or open a locked chest at other people's farms using TC(Township Cash). It's a bit easier to get than in other games, because when you complete a community building that's built using coins you get some depending on which it is.
Remember when I said that special buildings can be bought with ingots? Ingots are earned through a certain process. I have not unlocked the mine yet, because it is unlocked at level 21. The mine is one thing that attracted me to this game, the idea of it is appealing to certain users like me. When you use the mine, you can go deeper and deeper, finding ores and sometimes artifacts along the way. Artifacts can be assembled in the museum to earn coins and TC. When you use certain building(I forgot what it's called), you can smelt the ores and turn them into ingots, which can be used to buy big fancy buildings like the Space Needle and Eiffel Tower.
There is really not much else to it. All in all, Township is a great game for a time waster in the airport lobby, something to really concentrate on on a rainy day or something in between. That's just my opinion. It's worth staying up till twelve to play, which I actually did writing this review. I recommend this game to people of all ages. For 8-16 year olds, some other games that you might enjoy are: Subway Surfers, Hungry Shark Evo, the Temple Run collection, and of course, Hay Day :)
Have a good one!
