I love this sheet set, and I did prewash it. Even though I know that dark dyes often leach, most of our stuff has been washed so many times that nothing bleeds anymore, and I hate wasting loads, so I've gotten used to combining colors. I threw a few other things in when I washed the new sheets, and luckily most of it was dark... Except I ended up throwing some pinkish streaks on my man's socks. Oops! I got the burgundy set, so this was, in hindsight, totally to be expected. The sheets themselves are soft, supple, and smooth, but the material is also thick and feels like it will last awhile. Both my man and I love egyptian cotton and are both very satisfied with the product so far. Uodate: after months of use and several more washings, I can say they're holding up very well. There's still a teeny bit of color bleed, but not enough to stick to much, especially once you rewash the bled-on item. Those socks I tinted pink came white again on the next wash. They aren't bleeding color onto anything if they just get wet or rub against something on the bed, and they haven't ripped, frayed, or showed any other signs of poor quality.
