My wife and I looked at Ikea and elsewhere online before deciding that we would buy this white corner desk from Amazon.The high percentage of positive reviews definitely swayed us because it is difficult to make an informed choice without seeing the product.It was also very important that it was finished off on all sides as it was going into a location viewable from all angles.We had never heard of the seller either whereas Ikea we know and trust pretty well.The desk arrived within the time frame quoted......left outside our garage by UPS without so much as a knock on the door.The reason for that was obvious when I saw the large rectangular heavily wrapped cardboard package which had a sizable ding right in the center.The package weighs about 135 lbs and I was barely able to move it into a shaded and safer location until my wife came home from work later.If you are by yourself then you would want this very heavy package left in the location where you intended to assemble it.After we managed to slide it into the double garage I unpacked the whole thing and spread all the parts out on a large clean heavy duty plastic cover.The styrofoam sheet packing was messy because it was disintegrating as I removed it.Once I could see all the components in front of me I was able to account for everything listed in their assembly instructions.There was a small ding no doubt caused by UPS mishandling which had punctured the surface on one of the desk sides but luckily it was on the inside of the drawer / filing cabinet unit.It was a huge and challenging task to put this desk together once I see all the bits and pieces before me.It took me about 4 hours working steadily to assemble the 2 main components ....the drawer / filing cabinet and the long shelf unit.My wife and I then moved the 2 pieces separately into our house and positioned the 2 pieces exactly where we wanted the desk to go.We then brought the desk top in and placed it on top of the 2 parts.We didn't connect it by the 4 large screw bolts until we were satisfied we had the desk in the perfect position for our needs.It was very simple to complete the final 4 connections and we think the desk looks great for what we paid for it on Amazon.The quality,clean finish and functionality would rival or surpass any of the large furniture pieces we have purchased over the years from Ikea.
