Very lightweight and easy to maneuver - Perfect for detail work
Very lightweight and easy-to-use unit. Charging port is in the end of the handle, and the unit charges up pretty quick. The shrub trimmer and grass trimmer attachments go on and come off very easily and intuitively, and when they're on, they are on securely. Note that this is *light duty* trimmer. The shrub shear works beautifully on the half-dozen spirea shrubs I have on my property -- it's phenomenally easy to maneuver and shape them just right. The grass shear surprised me, working much better than I expected. I have several berms that use 8"-12" river rock as borders, and the grass can get stubborn in between those. My weed eater fights the rocks en route to the grass, so I used the grass shear attachment in those areas, and wow --- I could crop it tight and get all of it, too. It really looks sharp. You should know that neither the grass nor the shrub shear work well on woodier shrubs. In fact, if you try to cut anything approaching 1/4" thick, it's likely that the unit will jam and stop operating -- there's just not enough juice to slice something that thick. So, for heavier brush, you'll want a beefier machine. But for light duty work, I'm tickled that this unit is lightweight and maneuverable. Definitely recommended for the detail work!! One final note: This is a 7.2V lithium ion battery. Such batteries are rated to handle only so many recharges (It will handle HUNDREDS, but still ....). This unit does NOT come with any instructions, so to maximize the life of your battery, don't leave this unit charging once it's fully charged. Unplug it from the charger. ALSO -- you can even extend the life of the battery by discharging it just a little bit after it's fully charged, then storing it without the cord attached. In other words, once it's fully charged, just run the shears for a minute or so. Storing it at a 90 - 95% charge will actually minimize the build up of "plating" on the anode side of the battery - thus extending the battery's life.
