Regarding the negative reviews, please note that this HDMI adapter only works with the 4th generation, 2014 Kindle Fires that are SlimPort enabled. If you are experiencing problems with the new, October 2014 Kindles and this cable, please update your review. The cable works as advertised! It allows me to watch content from my 4th gen, October 2014 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 on my HDTV. PLEASE NOTE: You may want to consider getting the Amazon Fire TV Stick instead.
