This Is NOT An "Ultra-light"
it is, however, a very effective and efficient "super stick" vacuum.
As stick vacuums go, this is anything but ultra-light. With the floor unit attached plus the very thick and heavy power cord, this thing is massive and awkward to carry.
On the ground though, it is maneuverable and surprisingly easy to use. Not so much for your aging Mom with arthritis in her hands but for most people this thing is usable.
It "steers" with a slight twist of the wrist and the flex action allows you to get around furniture and corners with surprising ease, far better than any regular upright I have had including a fairly nice Shark one I use but which is too dang heavy to move around as I get older. The steering is quick and precise and was a delightful surprise.
And boy does it clean. I went over a stretch of hall carpet with a (genuinely) light weight "Dirt Devil" stick vacuum and got the carpet fairly clean. Then went over the same area with this using the powered (electrically, not just by suction) carpet attachment.
And ended up with an entire dirt cup full of stuff I didn't even see. Then turned it loose on the entry stairs, same thing: Pulled dust and dirt the Dirt Devil stick ignored or pretended wasn't there.
*And* the roller brush really does clean itself. My wife has hair as fine as an Angora cat and it is almost waist length. I've actually burned out the roller belt on an expensive European vacuum when enough of her hair entangled it so the belt literally tore off. (Ended up having to buy a new roller as it was so enmeshed with hair I'd still be working on it with a knife or scissors freeing things.)
On this one? Not a strand of hair and I *know* there was plenty as my lady doth shed rather like an Angora cat at times and the hair is so fine you never know where it will float.
The dist cup is a bit small and has a tendency to spread some super fine dust when you empty it, so wear sweats or empty it in the garage. There is some "static cling" where dust will be all over thh housing too, annoying but a slightly damp cloth will take care of it. Disassembly/re-assembly of the dust cup is easy. There are some filters you will need to clean now and then but they are clearly marked on the housing and int he manual.
If you plan to do a large room or your whole house, expect to empty that cup several times unless you are a clean fanatic and do this every day or something. Bits of grit and gravel and even some small dead leaves that have blown in by the front door when in with no issue. The impeller is behind the filters so you don't have the lovely sound of a fan blade being mangled you used to get in basic upright vacuums a generation or two back.
Best headlight I've ever seen on a vacuum, and it is on the housing not on the roller part so even if you use the dusting brush or crevice tool, you have light.
Cord is quite long and of a superior gauge so it is heavy, but there's the usual "coil me" loops on the vacuum when not using things but again, it's gonna be heavy to move around that way. It will not stand up by itself but there is a hanging loop on the back if you're handy and want to put it on a wall in a closet or garage.
Use Addendum: Read the manual. You can cleverly attach the motor unit to front of the wand and "base" and then wrap the cord around things and the whole thing will stand up in a corner out of the way. Most clever and not obvious from looking at the vacuum.
There is a small set of basic tools: Upholstery brush, crevice tool and a short, modestly flexible but cheap feeling hose.
Use Addendum: There is a tiny little tool with an extensible brush that fits onto the hose and is perfect for cleaning computer keyboards and other very small surfaces and areas.
This is a superior vacuum in terms of cleaning and I give it four stars only because it is so blasted heavy and awkward to handle when not actually using the floor brush. I've seen some vacuums of this type with a shoulder strap and this really could use that.
Oh and the basic wand appears to be metal not plastic and is long enough that a tall guy like me can use this with the floor attachment without having to stoop over. Bonus: This is going to be wicked good for getting spiders out of those *&^% corners of the ceiling they like to lurk in.
