I read a lot of reviews and decided to give this a try. It most definitely DOES do the job of eliminating odors and I will be buying more of these. People that are complaining, I suspect did not look carefully at the recommended square footage. One of these is not going to do your whole basement. Check out the recommendations for size and get 2-4 or whatever would be appropriate. I have had this over a month now, wanted to see how it worked before I reviewed it. It does get rid of musty and other odors, you just need to make sure you have the right amount for the space. I like that it's renewable and not of toxic chemicals like some others. It does not get rid of dampness, it does get rid of odor as it's name indicates. People complain about a little powder with it, it's a net bag of volcanic rock that gets packed and shipped, so I don't know what they expect. There was a minimal amt of powder when it arrived, I shook it out over the waste basket and it's just fine. A good Value for something that works, is renewable and doesn't put anymore toxic chemicals or plastic in the environment.
